Friday, January 23, 2009. Weekly progress report: Research project.

Personally, there has been an interest in “identity development” within academia; therefore and as experiences have often shown, I would like to conduct a set of comparative studies of North American tutors identity development, in contrast to, tutors who speak/write/read English as their second/third/fourth language(s); drawing particular emphasis on academic and societal growth in and out of university grounds.

  1. I think this will be an interesting topic and I look forward to hearing about it in class. May I ask, how are you going to gather information on tutors wwho have learned English as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th language? Do you already have people in mind that you know?

  2. You obviously have access to folks working at the UWC, and, if you want, you might even try contacting WC directors around the country and/or internationally who have tutors who are NNES (Non-native English Speakers).
